The Little Gym {Sponsored Post}

{Twin Cities Moms Blog has partnered with The Little Gym for this sponsored post – read on to see why this is such a great spot to take your kids, big or small. You can read more about options for younger children at The Little Gym here.}

I read an article last week about how children are fidgety because they are not getting enough exercise. The more I thought about it, the more I agreed with the author. My boys have much better behavior when they are able to expend some energy through physical activity.  They sleep better, eat better and just have better dispositions when they are able to move their little bodies on a regular basis.

We all know that living in Minnesota, it’s sometimes hard to find appropriate outlets for all the energy our kids have, especially in the cold winter months. Many of us are also looking for organized play time for our children where they can learn how to navigate the dynamics of a large group like waiting in line for your turn, cheering for our friend’s accomplishments, and listening to another authority figure other than mom or dad.

All of the above can be accomplished by taking classes at The Little Gym.  Here you will find classes for all ages and stages that are non-competitive, engaging and a great confidence booster. My boys visited recently and had a blast.

The class started with a time for warm up led by one of the participants.

Then they broke out into smaller groups and did stations that focused on developing strength and skills.

During this time, another instructor came to the waiting area to give parents updates on what the kids were working on. I cannot say enough good things about these instructors. They were positive and encouraging and gave specific praise to each child, instead of just saying “Good Job.” They quickly learned my boys’ names and even sent them personalized post-cards welcoming them to the class a few days later. I felt like they genuinely cared about my children.

Another aspect I really liked was the upbeat music set to the rhythm of the movement. My kids love music and find it very motivating and energizing. The songs are all original compositions so I didn’t have to worry about inappropriate lyrics like when we listen to the radio.

The Little Gym offers dance classes, birthday parties and perhaps best of all…Parent Survival Nights where you can drop off your kids, have a relaxing dinner, and know your kids are enjoying themselves in a fun, positive environment.

After the class I asked my son, “How was it?  How do you feel?”

To which he replied “I feel strong and healthy, mom.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself, that is exactly what I was hoping for.
