I don’t know about you, but I love to purge.  Not binge and purge, just purge my house and closets every so often.  It’s usually twice a year.  I’m not a hoarder, in fact, I should probably save some things here and there, but I like to be a minimalist.  It clears my mind to not have clutter.

Recently, I switched my clothes from Summer to Winter.  It’s time even after the fabulous Fall we had!  I wear things year after year, but some things I like to update and get new as well.  This year, I’m searching for a new warm winter coat. After last winter, I just need to suck it up and get something really warm for the bus stop or trips to Target.  To make room for anything new, I need to purge.  I think this is a mental thing too! I have to have the motivation and a few hours on a Saturday when the kids aren’t around and really look at what we can get rid of as a family and assess what we need. This year, it was the winter coats and let me tell you it was nice pulling up my car to the drive through drop off at Savers.  They are thankful and it’s quick and easy.

Savers just launched a brand new and convenient way for Twin Cities residents to donate. Called Donation Drop Spots, they are standalone, donation-only buildings throughout the area to make donating even easier! Just like Savers stores, they support several nonprofits in the area, including the Lupus Foundation of Minnesota, the Vietnam Veterans of America, and the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute. The locations and specific partners are included below:

  • Columbia Heights: 4300 Central Ave Ne, Columbia Heights, MN 55421 (Lupus of MN)
  • Richfield: 36 W 66th St, Richfield, MN 55423 (VVA)
  • Austin: 1700 17th St Nw, Austin, MN 55912 (VVA)
  • Robbinsdale: 3501 W Broadway Ave, Robbinsdale, MN 55411 (Courage Kenny)
  • Elk River: 19112 Freeport St Nw, Elk River, MN 55330 (VVA)
  • White Bear: 2499 County Rd E, White Bear, MN 55112 (VVA)

So, if you are feeling like you need to purge and prep for the upcoming winter, keep Savers in mind!  I like to stop in from time to time to see what they have for home stuff… I’m a DIY’er and I think they get in some cool stuff from time to time.  Also, if you bring your littles, I almost always promise them a little toy if they are good when I shop… things are so cheap, it’s easy to make them happy when it isn’t full price!

Here’s to clean closets this winter… may it clear you some space both physically and mentally!

Last year I went though my shed/barn and got rid of 10% or more of the stuff.
And it all went to our local thrift store.
Now it all sort for a yard sale. But it to cold to have one now.
