Recap: Kemps and TCMB at the Great Minnesota Get-Together

{We’ve partnered with Kemps for this sponsored post.  We just loved joining them at the Minnesota State Fair this year and you’re going to love their new flavors!}

Kemps and TCMB at the Minnesota State Fair | Twin Cities Moms Blog By now, you’ve likely figured out that we’re big fans of the partnership between Kemps and Pearson’s.  Two fantastic, long-standing Minnesota companies joining together to make ice cream with candy in it.  Really – you can’t go wrong there.  Suzanne and her kiddos had a once in a lifetime chance to tour the Pearson’s factory (and walk away with more candy than Halloween brings in!) and we were both thrilled to join them at the Minnesota State Fair last week to help promote their three new flavors (more on that in just a second!). If you’re a regular at the Fair each you, you likely know the Little Farm Hands exhibit, and if you don’t, this is a must for your trip next year.  It’s a fun and interactive tour for your kids to do, as they learn each step from farm to market.  My girls went crazy for it and loved going from step to step, especially milking a Kemps cow.

And, since you end the exhibit with a new tattoo to throw on your arm, and a chance to win a giant toy cow to take home, what kid wouldn’t love it?  I usually see the fair as hectic and a little crazy, but this was our first stop and it set the tone for a fun family day together.

Later, our families wandered the fair while we had the chance to poll YOU at the Kemps booth!

Two of their three new flavors were available to try for free samples.  These three new flavors will be out in January 2015 :

  • Nut Goodies – Chocolate and maple flavored ice cream swirled together with chunks of chocolate nut clusters
  • Salted Nut Roll – Marshmallow nougat ice cream with salted candied peanuts and a thick caramel swirl
  • Mint Patties – Mint ice cream with Mint Patties cups and a thick fudge swirl

Suzanne and I were waiting to pounce you at the end of the line so we could find out if you preferred the Nut Goodie Ice Cream (my favorite!) or the Salted Nut Roll (her favorite!).  Salted Nut Roll came out the winner, but everyone loved both and we can’t wait to try the Mint Patties Ice Cream in January.  And, thanks to Kemps, you now have something tasty to look forward to when winter rolls around.

Keep an eye out for these new flavors in the new year – fair-goers said in years past these flavors fly out of the grocers freezers quickly, so once you find them, stock up and don’t miss out.  These are those flavors you’re going to want to hide in the back of the freezer and eat after the kids go to bed so you don’t have to share.  We’re always happy to let you know about great local businesses, but it’s even better, and so much fun, to see two local companies bringing their best together for our enjoyment.
