I don’t think it would be an understatement to say our winters are a tad long here.  If I calculate when I usually turn on my heat, it’s mid-October.  And when it’s finally off?  I’m guessing I would have to go with mid-May.  So, that gives you an idea of how much of the year we spend cooped up…uff da. I’m thinking I found a solution.  That solution is in most of your backyards and it’s called The Water Park of America.  We got to try it out for a night and I can honestly say, I felt as though we left town and went to a warm, humid destination where I could sit back and watch my kids be thrilled!  I got to hear, “Mom, this is awesome!” and “You are the best, Momma.” And so, The Water Park of America made me a hero.

This is how I pulled off being the hero of a Mom.  We picked up our kids early from school and they had no idea we were doing that.  As we approached the hotel, we blindfolded them…just to add to the excitement.  We have done Wisconsin Dells in the summer before, but this was unexpected and they really had no idea what they were in for.  We pulled the car right up to here….

….and removed the blindfolds and that’s where the oohing and ahhhing ensued. Mission accomplished.

We checked into our room around 3 pm and they squealed over our room and asked me if I planned it?!?  Bunkbeds for the kiddos and a nice comfy bed for my hubby and me.  The fact that there is a huge curtain with night lights for them on each level of the bunked only made bedtime even easier!!  After they figured out who was sleeping where and I found a spot for my wine bottle, we donned our swimsuits and headed down to the water park.

Moms, this is a nice sized water park.  It’s compact and you will not get lost, which is nice no matter what age of kids you have.  At the same time, there are lots of different options for all ages.  My husband had to check out every slide too, so you know it was adventurous at the same time.  There are some zero entry areas which will be great for toddlers all the way up to a surfing wave for teenagers and adults.

There are tables where you can lounge or hang out along with food you can order.  Next to the water park is an arcade if you want to take a break from the park at anytime.

Overall, I love that this is in my backyard and local.  No planning a weekend with a 3 hour drive, if you know what I mean.  I did not know until I stayed there that you can come for the day on a day pass and host birthday parties there as well.  That will be a nice option to keep in mind.

That night we ordered pizza in our room.  Kids were exhausted and could.not.wait. to get into those bunk beds!  What a treat for once, bedtime was a breeze.
