{TCMB has partnered with Kemps for this sponsored post.  We simply love this local business and are thrilled to highlight it and share what they’re up to!}

We’re hoping you had the chance to read our post on the announcement of Kemp’s Ice Cream teaming with Pearson’s Candy!

Wasn’t that a fun announcement?  Did you realize both of those companies are Minnesota based and over 100 years old? Here are some fun facts about Kemps we think you will enjoy as well.

Did you know?

  • Kemps works with 17,000 farm families and 100% of the profits to go them
  • Kemps products are sold in Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin, Iowa and the Dakotas and frozen yogurt is sold throughout the Southeast
  • Kemps has more than 130 flavors of ice cream, and vanilla is the most popular
  • At last year’s Minnesota State Fair over 20,000 ice cream samples were passed out
  • One cow produces approximately 2,200 gallons of milk each year – and it takes around 35,000 cows to produce the milk Kemps processes each year in Minnesota
  • Kemps has over 40 of animated cows, which appear in promotions and advertisements. Her name is Tabitha
  • Cows have a very keen sense of smell – they can smell something 6 miles away!

In addition, we want to remind you that Kemps will have a booth at the Minnesota State Fair complete with a Mooseum.  Every day at the Fair from 1 to 2 pm, Kemps offers all Fair-goers the chance to try two of the three new flavors that will be in grocery stores in January 2015.  Ice cream sampling goes from 1 pm to 2 pm daily, and why would ANYONE miss out on free ice cream?!?  If you like their IttiBitz ice cream that is available twice daily at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm.

And what is a Mooseum you ask?  It is a 53 foot long semi-trailer filled with Kemps morabilia and surprises. The part of the Mooseum my kids enjoyed most was the interactive Incredible Milking Cow station.  Families can milk the rubber udders of a simulated Kemps Cow!

I knew Kemps when it was Marigold Dairy, back in the day. Love ice cream, and I’ve even become a lover of vanilla after all the other flavors available. Two businesses that are over 100 years old! That’s something to brag about!

Love,
Mary
