Camp Cubber

June 9 – August 14th
Ages: K-8th Grade
Prices: $130-150/week plus registration and meals.  Multi-child discount.

This is one of the most sought after camps in Palm Harbor.  Sessions start to fill up as early as March/April.  There are on-site activities, field trips, arts, music, sports, computers, gaming and more.  Field trips are age appropriate and may include trips to the pool, beach, local parks, movies and theme parks.  Some of the fun field trips this year include Old McMicky’s Farm, Dunedin Spray Ground, Congo River Golf, Lowry Park Zoo, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and so many more fun places.  Camp Cubber has safe church vans for off-site transportation and their staff has been part of the camp for years.  In fact, every year when we go to register they remember my son by name.  This will be my daughters first year to attend camp at Camp Cubber during Vacation Bible School.  This is one of the only full-day camps that accommodates working parents hours.

The First Tee Clearwater

Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Club
3030 McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater
Mon-Thursday – 9am-12pm
Weekly – June 9th through August 14th
Ages: 5+
Prices: $105/week

Instruction is age based and will introduce your child to the game of gold.  Students will learn grip, posture, stance, putting, chipping, Rules of Golf, etiquette, and will even get to play on the Chi Chi Rodriguez golf course throughout the week.  Golf equipment is available to all participants or students may bring their own.  Be sure to bring sunscreen and a water bottle since the kids will be outdoors most of the day.  In past years students were provided with First Tee golf hats and tee shirts.  The volunteers are experienced golf instructors and are great with the kids.  At the end of the summer they even have a tournament open for the students to show off their new skills.

This list isn’t anywhere near complete with all the great summer programs in the area.  I know many day care centers provide summer programs for school age kids.  Also, check out the places where your child is involved with after-school activities (dance studios, gymnastics studios, horse lessons, etc) because they typically offer summer programs as well.  You can also check out Tampa Bay Parenting’s Summer Camp Guide.  Feel free to leave a link to your favorite summer programs in the comments!
