Calling all Thomas fans!! Β If your children are anything like mine, they have fallen in love with Thomas the Train at an early age. Β Thomas is usually trying his best to be a Really Useful EngineΒ andΒ he shows through his adventures how to listen, cooperate and do the right thing. After all, he is the No. 1 Engine.
Since every child wants to see their hero come to life, an exciting adventure is about to roll into the Oklahoma Railway Museum onΒ September 26, 27, 28 and October 3,4,5! Β Thomas the Train will be here in all his steam-engine glory!
A replica of Thomas travels around the nation and he is scheduled to stop in Oklahoma City. Β It’s an entire day of fun. Β We went to this event last year and my kidsΒ had a blast. Unless Thomas is out on a train ride, he is the first thing you see when you walk into the yard. Β The squeals that came outΒ my daughter upon her first glimpseΒ have been unparalleled since.
Once inside the museum area, you collect a map in which you travel to different stations. Β You get to meet Sir Topham Hatt,Β enjoy arts & crafts, story-telling, miniature golf,Β aΒ model train layout, magician, ventriloquist, two moon walks, Mom-O the clown, as well as the playground area. Β There is so much to do, that you can easily spend several hours there.
Last year, I had been told to get to the museum a few hours early before the scheduled train ride.Β I’m really glad we did so we could enjoy the day without rushing around. Β Plus, there is a cushion of time that you’ll need to line up to get on your train and get settled inside. (Note: when purchasing tickets, you can choose which train car to be assigned and what time to go.)
The train takes you on a 25 minute train ride pulled by Thomas. Β It was perfect for both of my kids’ attention spans and weΒ pretended all the trains parked in the yard were Thomas’ friends.
After our train ride, we went back to make sure we didn’t miss.a.thing. and got our temporary tattoos for completing our map. Β We were exhausted from all the fun, but wouldn’t have traded a moment! (This is actually a free event all around, it just costs to take the train ride.)
Does this sound like a perfect adventure for your little engineer? Β It just so happens that OKC Moms Blog has TWO 4-pack of tickets for the 2014 Day Out with Thomas!! Two winners will be announced at the end of this week. Enter below for your chance to win!!
