There are no raises or promotions when it comes to the job of motherhood. No parking space next to the door or employee appreciation lunch.
But as fellow mothers, battling in the trenches day in and day out, we know how hard you work – and we want to recognize you for doing the most important job in the world.
Kansas City Moms Blog will honor one Kansas City Mother of the Year and two runner-ups this May, just in time for Mother’s Day. Once all submissions have been received, readers will have the chance to vote on the winning essays and winners will be pampered and spoiled by local Kansas City businesses, including a stay at the Southmoreland Bed & Breakfast on the Plaza! Other first place prizes include:
- a gondola ride on Brush Creek courtesy of Ambiance on the Water
- dinner at Buca di Beppo on the Plaza
- a scalp massage and blowout at Parlor: a Beauty Bar
Prizes will be awarded for our second and third place winners, as well!
Nominations in the form of essays (no longer than 800 words) will be accepted from husbands, fathers, grandmas, grandpas, friends and even kids themselves! Maybe you’d like to nominate a fellow sister who is raising the next generation; or, if you feel deserving of such an honor (and we know you are!), emailing this post to your husband or kids as a gentle nudge is totally acceptable (and even encouraged!).
Nominations will be accepted online through Friday, April 25, 2014.
The top three essays will be selected by a panel of judges and published on this site the first week in May. KCMB readers will then be asked to vote on the Kansas City mom most deserving of this year’s honor, to be announced Friday, May 9, 2014.
