Fit Fanatic Gift Guide

Looking for the perfect gift for the fitness fanatic in your life?

Here are my top 10 gift picks that any athlete would love.

Fit-Gift-List

1. Athleta

Athleta clothing is in a word phenomenal. Not only do they carry fitness clothing, but they also have swimwear and streetwear. The best part, they have a “Give-it-a-Workout Guarantee. If it doesn’t perform return it for free.” That even includes swimwear. With such a simple return policy, gift giving and exchanges are a breeze.

2. Asics Noosa Tri

I’ve worn Asics my entire athletic career and have been tempted by other shoes only to return to the comfort and support that Asics provide. The Noosa Tri series is the perfect gift for the triathlete on your list. The open mesh upper and perforated sockliner improves breathability and moisture drainage, while the Elastic Laces and Tongue make for a speedy transition.

3. Running Buddy

If you buy one item off this list make it the Running Buddy. This versatile little pouch is handy not only for fitness lovers, but I even pop it on the kiddos so they can carry their own snacks. It uses magnets instead of a belt making it comfortable and less cumbersome.

4. PiYo

To be honest I’m not a big workout video person, but a friend lent me her PiYo DVD and I fell in love. The video combines Pilates and Yoga into a nice intense low impact workout. This would make the perfect gift for the Yogi in your life, so she doesn’t miss a session on snow days.

5. YUR Buds Leap Wireless Headphones

I have tried a gazillion headphones, and on a whim picked up the wired version of these at Target. They are THE BEST headphones I’ve ever owned. They stay in, have great sound and they are made specifically for women’s small ears.

6. Spotify Subscription

This is the smartest invest I’ve made. For only $9.95 a month I have an unlimited music library right at my fingertips. Feeling the urge to rock out to AC DC, all it takes is a click. No more iTunes gift cards or buying music that I get tired of in a month.

7. Nuun

A tube of Nuun would make the perfect stocking stuffer. Hydration during workouts is so important, but so many electrolyte replacements have sugar and calories. Nuun doesn’t. It’s my go-to hydration for races, workouts and even long days on the job.

8. Bia Sport Watch

New to the market, the Bia Sport watch was created by athletes for athletes. What I like about it? Well, it has a built in SOS emergency pinging system, GPS and I can even swim with it. One thing that makes it different from all the rest is the online upgrade. New features and improvements can be uploaded to the device without having to trade it in.

9. Apera Tech Pack

No more stinky workout bags with Apera each bag is antimicrobial (to resist bacterial odor). The Tech Pack is perfect for the working mom who wants to hit the gym over her lunch hour. There a place for everything even your laptop and tablet.

10. Bondi Band

Here’s another gem for the stocking. I’ve been wearing Bondi Bands forever, they keep my short hair out of my face for workouts and they wick sweat. Plus they have cute sayings and can even be customized with a team name or your wife’s favorite fitness quote.

So there you have it, my top 10 items for your fit gift list.  Now I just need to show this to my husband…

Brook
Brook {without the "e"} is a spunky faux redhead and former UI grad who has decided to call Iowa City her home for over 10 years. She met her husband on the internet, and they spend their days playing superheroes with their two boys, Edison (2007) and Grant (2010). She juggles mom life with a full-time job as a marketing consultant, competing in triathlons and writing her heart out on her personal blog www.redheadreverie.com. She believes life is a journey, not a destination.

  1. I love Athleta workout clothes! They have a better sizing range (plus size and tall) than other brands, and their swim suits are awesome. My favorite yoga pants are the Bettona Classic since they’re a perfect studio to street option.

Also, I did a PiYo class in Des Moines when we were visiting our in-laws over Thanksgiving. The class was heated, and it was so challenging. I loved it! Even the wall sits and side-leg kicks with a weighted bar. 🙂
