Friday, August 29th

Fry Fest, located in Iowa River Landing.  If you’re a Hawkeye fan, this event is for you! Events will take place all day, including a small FRY zone, beverage garden, pep rally, a chance to say goodbye to the Herkys from Herky on Parade, and live music from Jake McVey, Craig Campbell, and David Nail.

Family Free Friday at the Coral Ridge Mall from 5:00-8:00 p.m.  Includes free admission to the ice arena, free admission to the Iowa Children’s Museum (all ages), and free kid’s meal with purchase of adult combo meal at many food court restaurants.

Friday Night Concert Series, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the Ped Mall (downtown Iowa City).  Bring your family downtown for a night of great music and fun! This week’s performers will be Dogs on Skis.  Rain location: Chauncey Swan parking ramp. Free.

Saturday, August 30th

Family Movie Night, 7:00 p.m. at the Cedar Rapids Kernels. This Saturday is FREE Family Movie Night at the Kernels sponsored by Collins Community Credit Union! We will be showing Disney’s Frozen at 7pm, gates open at 6pm. The first 1,000 guests will receive a FREE tub of popcorn from Collins Community Credit Union. Bring your blankets and sit on the field to enjoy the movie. No lawn chairs or outside food and beverage please, these items will be prohibited.

Sunday, August 31st

granGABLE Youth Ride, Noon at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. As part of the larger granGABLE event, a Youth Ride will be held at the Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. Kids are encouraged to decorate their bikes, especially in black and gold! All participants will receive a completion ribbon. The Youth Ride is free and does not require pre-registration, but participants should arrive 20-30 minutes prior to the start. Any youth can participate, even if his/her parent(s) did not sign up for the granGABLE. The course is the perimeter of the recreation area, which is 2 miles, and will be led by a lead cyclist.  An information table will be located near the entrance of the Park Lodge. A parent or guardian should be present prior to the ride.

Kaitlyn is the owner of Cedar Rapids Moms Blog and is an Iowa girl who has been married to her husband, Joshua, since 2007! She’s a busy work-at-home mama to their 5 children: 3 girls and 2 boys! A true Hawkeye, she graduated from the University of Iowa with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, something that comes in handy on a daily basis while trying to raise 5 kids!
