When is the last time you and your husband went out on a date without the kids? As our family has grown, it has become harder and harder to have regular date nights. Life gets busy, and all of a sudden we realize it has been months since we have gone to dinner just the two of us. I don’t want our marriage to just get lost in the hustle and bustle of caring for little ones. I want to be intentional about having quality time together where we can have meaningful conversation and just focus on each other.
Our church offers childcare for a Parent’s Night Out on a quarterly basis, and we finally used it for the first time in February. It was wonderful. Why did we not do it sooner? We must be crazy for waiting 2 years to take advantage of this. I guess I was nervous how the kids would do away from home past their bedtime. I pictured picking them up and seeing a room full of completely exhausted, hysterically screaming 2 year olds. Now, we did get back before 9pm, but that wasn’t the case at all. Our toddler was full of energy, dancing around in the indoor play area happy as can be. Our baby apparently did a bit of crying, but she was happy when we picked her up. We got to enjoy a nice dinner together, as well as coffee and dessert. And guess what? We are already signed up for the next Parent’s Night Out!
I didn’t realize it, but there are so many places around Houston that offer childcare for Parent’s Night Out on a regular basis! So I put together a list {by area of town} of all the places that offer this service. I would definitely encourage you to see if there is one by you and look into scheduling a date night with the hubs. If you don’t want to stay out late, even a quick dinner is better than no date at all. So check it out! {A little FYI – I haven’t tried any of the places except one, so I am not endorsing them. Obviously, you should thoroughly look into any place before trusting them with your kids!}
