I am so excited for summer. In our family summer is the perfect time to spend together as a family. A time to reconnect with our kids and make some lasting memories that we will cherish for years. I try to take advantage of those short summer weeks by planning something fun every week. Here are a few of my ideas for this summer. I am really excited to try some new ideas out and bring back the old “go to” activities that I loved as a kid.

1. Snake Bubbles

2. ABC scavenger hunt

Create a printout of the alphabet and give a copy to each kid. Have them go outside and find something that begins with each letter of the alphabet. This is a great opportunity for learning and exploring.

3. Paint Balloons

summer3

Fill an old squirt bottle with washable paint mixed with water. (About half and half) Squirt the paint into water balloons. Then take them outside and have a colorful water balloon fight. This is fun if the kids wear light colored clothing so they can see the paint splatter.** Goggles are a good idea to wear during this activity.

4. Old School Lemonade Stand

summer4

This is a very simple lemonade stand that most kids can make with a little help from mom or dad. And here is a great lemonade recipe to get you started.

-2 cups lemon juice (fresh is best)

-6 cups water

-sugar syrup to taste (boil 1 cup of sugar with 2 cups of water until sugar has dissolved. Let cool and add to the lemonade until the sweetness you desire. You can store the rest in a zip lock bag in the freezer for next time.) This will keep the lemonade clear and it will not need constant stirring.

5. Water Blob

I hope your summer is as fun as I know ours will be!
