I’ll be honest… I don’t get out much. And I definitely don’t travel much. But this September I had the opportunity to go to the City Moms Blog Network Sister Site Conference at The Woodlands Resort in Houston, Texas. Des Moines Moms Blog is part of  a national network of Moms Blogs, and we had our first ever conference in Houston. It was a blast! I had no idea how beautiful this area of the country is, and I can’t say enough about The Woodlands Resort!

The Woodlands has amazing pools, a golf course, YUMMY food, clean rooms with all the modern conveniences, a beautiful conference center, and so much more. On an even more personal note, I had my three-month-old with me for this trip and the staff at The Woodlands Resort went above and beyond to help me carry things, open doors, get settled, etc. I can’t thank them enough for being so helpful and hospitable.

As the weather turns cold I can’t help but look at this picture and wish we could go back, this time with the whole family! Maybe someday!

If you are looking for a great getaway for your family, you must check it out! It’s only 30 minutes from downtown Houston. Families will find an oasis of fun for kids of all ages at the Forest Oasis Waterscape. Kids will fall in love with the  double water slide and the “dive-in” movies. If you are a walker or biker you will love the 190 acres of trails! Oh, and there is a SPA! Can I get an AMEN, Mommas?

My Highlights:

1. The chocolate plate upon arrival, which was gone within five minutes of walking into the room for the first time!

2. The staff. I could not have been more blessed with how helpful they were and how convenient they made everything even with my little in tow.

3. The trees. I am a fan of trees, and they are plentiful in the Woodlands.

4. The great location! Super close to awesome shops and restaurants and only 30 minutes from downtown Houston.

5. The weather. Coming from an Iowa girl entering fall/winter, I am still dreaming about that sunshine!

Exciting Changes

As if it wasn’t beautiful enough, The Woodlands Resort embarked last summer on an exciting $60 million expansion and renovation of the property. Including the addition of a new guest room wing, a lazy river, and a restaurant, as well as the updating of the resort’s 60,000-square-foot conference center, the project is to be completed this fall.
