What You Missed at the My Kids DDS Play Date!

One of our favorite things to do at Dallas Moms Blog is to help out our community! We frequently get questions from local moms who are new to motherhood or experienced moms who are new to the area asking for advice. Some of these questions we can answer on our own, like “Is the Perot Museum worth the ticket price?” Yes. “Can you recommend a birthday party spot for my four year old?” Absolutely!

The hard questions we turn to you (our readers) and local businesses to help us answer. While normally, we’d just post a question like “Can you recommend a dentist?” on our Facebook page to allow our readers to give their advice and opinions. We thought we’d try something a little different!

A few weeks ago, Dallas Moms Blog and local pediatric dentist My Kids DDS joined together for a fun, informational breakfast play date. This was an opportunity to come in and visit a well-known dental office (for those who might be in the market) and be in a welcoming, comfortable environment to get questions answered from the experts (for those moms who might be new to this stage of parenthood).

The rain tried to keep a lot of families away, but we didn’t let that stop us from having a great morning for our first informational play date!

The staff at My Kids DDS gave us a brief tour of their dental and orthodontic offices. Along the way, hygienists provided interesting facts and information about children’s dental care.

Normally, kids would be attached to parents like glue, but the staff and assistants at My Kids DDS work so well with children that almost all the children separated from their parents without any issues. Of course, movies, games, balloons, and face-painting helped–and thankfully, all of the above are accessible at each dental visit at My Kids DDS! (Except for the facepainter.)

While the kids were enjoying themselves, parents stepped next door into the Learning Lab for a Q&A to ask questions about children’s dental care, pacifiers and development, and tooth growth.

Thanks to My Kids DDS, each mom walked away with a fun goodie bag filled with pediatric dental care products, sunglasses, gift certificates and savings for their first visit, and informational brochures for new moms. . .and of course, a balloon for the kids! Plus, one mom won a Sonicare toothbrush giveaway.

Krystal Hurst
Krystal is a Dallas-native who began her career as a fourth grade teacher in Richardson RISD, but quickly changed paths to became a stay-at-home mom in 2011. Through a happy coincidence, she stumbled upon (what was then known as) Dallas Moms Blog in 2012 and found a community she’d been looking for since coming a mom. Shortly after joining the team, she gratefully accepted the “baton” passed to her as new owner of the site, and took off with it running full speed! Krystal not only helped to grow Dallas Moms into a large parenting resource, but also launched Collin County Moms in 2016; providing those in the north Dallas suburbs their community resource platform. While building a community, uniting the moms, and growing a business around this passion was a dream come true, after almost 10 years, Krystal officially stepped down as owner, and is now focusing on raising her 4 boys with her husband, Tim, and rediscovering old hobbies.
