Five Preschool Apps You Must Have

8

I know there’s a lot of talk out there about letting your kids use your phone or iPad and some people try to avoid screen time for their kids.

I’m not one of those people.

As a matter of fact, I’m embracing it and I’ve found five preschool apps you must have!

Whether you’re in the doctor’s office trying to avoid the “looks” you’re getting from other adults or spending an unexpected amount of time waiting in line at the grocery store, there are ALWAYS times when you wish you had something to hold your preschooler’s attention.

For those reasons and so many more, I try to keep several games or apps on my phone or iPad to keep my little ones entertained and somewhat quiet.  Not only that, but I can have peace of mind knowing they are learning while they are “playing.”

Here are five of our favorites.

preschool apps1. Monkey Preschool LunchboxYour kids will totally think this popular app is a game, but you can be happy to watch them play, knowing they are learning, too! This app teaches counting, colors, and even works with a few letters, too. My boys love putting the puzzles together and playing the matching game. I love hearing them count and learn the new fruits.

I was honestly surprised at how quickly they picked it up and the music is pretty catchy, too.

2. Duck Duck Moose – Duck Duck Moose has created several entertaining apps that are meant to be swiped, tapped, and explored to bring more life in to the game. One of our favorites is Wheels on the Bus, which takes a classic song and turns it in to a fun and interactive experience. You even have the option to record yourself singing, allowing your child to play it back over and over again.

If you husband travels regularly, imagine how much your child would love having the ability to play their voice back again and again.

Other songs include Old MacDonald and Itsy Bitsy Spider, among several others! So many different options with the Duck Duck Moose apps. You must check them out!

3. ABC WildlifeProbably just like your kids, my kids LOVE animals! This app has an extensive library of animals and gives the user real pictures and real YouTube videos of animals, using every letter of the alphabet. I even like playing the app with them! Some of the videos are funny, and some of them are just really neat, like the whale jumping out of the ocean water. Beautiful!

4. I Hear EweThis app is one played again and again by my two year old. He loves to listen to the 24 different animal sounds and 12 different vehicle sounds. It’s a great distraction when you need one the most!

5. Disney Jr. and PBS Kids Video {Like how I threw two apps in there to keep my list to five?} Octonauts, Mickey Mouse, Curious George, Super Why, and more! How about clips of their favorite shows and even some FULL EPISODES?? Your child will LOVE it and you will enjoy the small break you get with it. Let’s face it, we all need a break every now and again!

There are so many more apps I could share with you and I’m sure you have a favorite one your kids love that’s not in this list. If so, we’d love to hear about it.

What’s your favorite go to app to keep your kids entertained or distracted??
