Miki

bvtmb headshots - luann vermont photo (7 of 83)

Writer

Miki grew up in Florida and felt skeptical (to say the least) when her parents announced their move to Vermont during her freshman year of college. She moved away a few times to escape the cold, but once she had children, nowhere else felt like home. Miki is a divorced mom of two fabulous kiddos: a funny, outgoing son born in 2006 and a creative, talented daughter born in 2010. A few years back, she met and married the love of her life, and they (mostly) enjoy their adventures as a blended family together. Miki loves to read on her deck, see movies at the drive-in, and sled down the hill in her parents’ backyard. Miki holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in English and is thrilled to be writing something other than a contract, grant, or software manual.

Nan

Nan headshot 2

Writer

Nan grew up in Glens Falls, New York, and attended Boston University. She thought of herself as ”very urban” until she realized she enjoyed being a big fish in a small pond. At the very “mature” age of 23, she moved to Burlington, Vermont to open an eponymous women’s clothing store. That was a 27-year run and a wonderful experience. Her store was a place where women felt like they mattered. During that time, Nan married her husband, Ken, became a stepmom, became a mom, and started a second business with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Now her kids are grown, and she has a 16-year-old granddaughter… what? How did THAT happen so quickly? She was promoted to a sales director with Mary Kay. Nan’s life is good. She figured out how to make money, save money, and enjoy what she earned. She loves to travel, spend time with her friends and family, take ballet and yoga, go on fun walks with my dog, and is an avid skier who loves to ski the bumps!

Natanya

natayna

Writer

Natanya Lara is an Energy Practitioner supporting both kids and adults to calm their minds and release stress and anxiety. She is certified in several Energy modalities, as well as being a certified Parenting Coach. Natanya envisions a world in which each person understands their own energy and emotions, and takes responsibility for how they show up and affect those around them. It is her belief that by teaching these skills to children, we take one step closer to that reality.

Vicky

Vicky

Writer

Originally from Connecticut, Vicky lived on a farm in Cabot for 22 years before recently moving to South Burlington seeking greater opportunity in high school education. She is a mom to a teen boy and girl, and a Goldendoodle who grew up to look more like a poodle. A reticent soccer mom and former lawyer who owns her own marketing and communications business, she spends most of her work time playing with words. She mourns the demise of the serial comma. Don’t ask her if she passed the bar exam (she did) and why she doesn’t have her own website if she writes them for others (she’s been working on her own site for about six years). She’s outside every day, and you may find her sitting in the sun in January, wrapped in blankets. Swinger of birches and lover of all things Vermont, she hikes, paddles, cooks gluten-free and vegan food, reads meaningless novels, and is a recent Pilates convert. She loves to visit her happy place any time of year in Ogunquit, Maine.
