Yes, I’m sometimes the obnoxious chick who checks in at the gym on facebook and notifies everyone that I’m working out. Why? Because working out is awesome and taking pride in your health feels great!

Not everybody likes going to the gym though. In fact, some people HATE it! The excuse I hear most often though is, “I don’t have time to work out”, and I’m here to call your bluff. Yes, you do have time to work out and I’ll tell you how to sneak it in.

ABS:

  • Use a stability ball instead of a chair at your office, at home watching TV, or folding laundry
  • Do 20-30 crunches the moment you get up in the morning and as soon as you get home in the evening
  • Kick your legs over a chair (low fan kick) in the kitchen waiting on something to finish cooking
  • Do standing crunches alternating your legs waiting on coffee to brew or blow drying your hair
  • SUP the lake for a killer ab and back workout! 100_0051

LEGS:

  • Walking lunges to and from the bedrooms to the living room or other rooms
  • Do 10 squats before getting into your car each time while running errands (people will only stare because they’re jealous, lol)
  • Do calf raises or lunges while cooking
  • Clean your house wearing heels (trust me, your husband will NOT mind!)
  • Butt raises while catching up on The Real Housewives or Ladies of London
  • I love doing lunges while blow drying my hair too!

ARMS:

  • Keep weights in your office or wherever you work throughout the day, commit to taking a 2-3 minute break every hour to do a few reps
  • Do tricep dips off your coffee table watching TV or watching the kids play, or off your desk at work
  • Fit some push ups in while the kiddos are playing on the floor
  • Listen to your husband’s day while doing bicep curls or hammer curls

CARDIO: To me, cardio is trickier to fit in because you get sweaty, you want comfortable clothing and it often requires a change of location, but here are some ideas.

  • 20-30 jumping jacks before breakfast, lunch, and dinner (it adds up)80s Skate Party
  • High step knee to chest walking from room to room or in place at work
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator (EVERY time)
  • Meet your friends to walk or SUP the lake instead of Happy Hour or meet up at Black Swan for $7 hot yoga
  • Chase your kiddos at the park
  • Jog with the stroller or while your kids ride bikes
  • Take a family bike ride
  • Hike Enchanted Rock or Mount Bonnell on a Saturday morning
  • 80s themed skate party? (see right, lol)
  • Wake up 20 minutes earlier & skip drying your hair to give yourself an extra 30 minutes a day to workout!

Do I do all of these all the time? No way! But, I do keep this list in my head and a list of the classes at my gym on my phone so I remember to make a conscious effort to take pride in my health and feel good about myself every day.

How do you sneak in workouts?
