Today’s Worth It Wednesday is all about Cloth Diapers!
I’m a mom who falls in the middle when it comes to how I diaper my babes. I’ve used disposable and cloth so I feel pretty competent when it comes to this topic.
Cloth Diaper Pros:
- More cost effective over time
- Environmentally Safer
- Great for babies with skin sensitivities
- They don’t get saggy
- Non-toxic: no dioxins, chlorine, or carcinogenic chemical
- Can be used with baby #1 through baby #5 if cared for properly
- Same size from birth to age 3
- Less leaks and blow outs
- Super Cute
Cloth Diaper Cons:
- Expensive upfront
- You can’t wrap up the poo and throw it away
- Can build up ammonia, which then…
- Require stripping
- Must be handled with care {no drying, harsh detergents, etc.}
Just like with anything, there are pros and cons and I know many people who have successfully cloth diapered, but for ME, I stopped cloth diapering.
Is it worth it? I think so in the long term. Sure it requires a little more patience and work than with disposable, but once you get use to it, it’s pretty seamless!
