Wow! It’s January 2nd and we have been on a major blogging hiatus/vacation enjoying the holidays and New Year with our families… we hope you’ve been doing the same!

While Vanessa frolics in Italy, I thought I would catch everyone up on what’s been going on with the Macks for the last couple weeks. It’s been one hell of a “vacation”.

First, I got the flu just a few days before Christmas. Like most men I’m sure, my husband has a difficult time when I am sick. 1. He doesn’t like to see me sick and 2. he obviously feels like a stay at home single dad when I’m down in the dumps. Regardless, he pulled through and took great care of me and the kiddos. I’m not much of a sitter/rester so here was my “flu” project. I took an antique buffet and completely refurbished it into this beautiful piece that totally goes with the motif in our home. In addition, I made this linen garland as well. DIY to come!

I guess I had a mild case of the flu, because I was feeling great and ready to go by Christmas Eve. We hosted a family dinner at our house and then got busy getting everything ready for Christmas morning. Here’s Lincoln’s new Pottery Barn Activity Table and train set as well as the Christmas tree…oh, and our dog, Rigby too!

The boys had an awesome time digging into all of their presents and while Townsend doesn’t quite get it this year, he still loved being in the midst of the wrapping paper, bows, and of course, all of his big brother’s new toys.

Obviously there was so much sadness, but the boys made it impossible to shed too many tears that day. They were both just so happy and giddy that you had to smile back. Even though my in-laws had to leave earlier than anticipated, we still continued on Christmas night and had dinner with my sister’s in-laws. Here’s a cute video of my hubs and littlest, Townsend. Obviously my husband is worried that Townsend is warm since I was just getting over the flu. He was fine.

A couple of days after Christmas, we traveled to my Dad’s ranch in Medina, Texas for our Christmas with him and had an awesome time in the hill country!

Don’t worry…it’s not loaded #GunSafety

We ended up spending New Year’s Eve in a hotel in Conroe, Texas. It was a beautiful day to say goodbye to Wesley’s grandmother.

After all of our travels, we are happy to be back in Austin!!! We are spending some time taking down the exterior Christmas lights (I’m sure our neighbors are grateful), relaxing, cleaning, grocery shopping, and returning gifts!

We hope your Christmas and New Year was wonderful! Obviously Vanessa’s time off totally trumps mine. I’d take Italy over a funeral any day!  How was your Christmas break?
