DIY Thursday: Buffalo Wings

I love Buffalo Wings so much. They are easily in my top 5 favorite foods of all time. Before we had Lucy, Todd and I would spend our Sunday mornings at Bully’s Sports Bar in Reno, dining on beer and wings at 10:00 in the morning, with cheeseburgers for lunch when the next game started. After we became parents, those days ended so I perfected my Buffalo Wing recipe to make at home.

1 lb of Buffalo wings, unseasoned

1 bottle of Frank’s Red Hot sauce (You could substitute a different kind but they wouldn’t taste as good as these. I promise.)

1/2 stick of butter

3 cloves of garlic, crushed

Dash of Teriyaki sauce

Carrots, celery, blue cheese and ranch dressing for serving.

Instructions:

Cook wings per bag’s instructions. I don’t have a deep fryer so I usually bake them. Just before I take them out of the oven, I like to broil them for a minute or two to get the skin crispy.

Make the sauce over medium-low heat. Use 1T of butter for every 1/3 c of Frank’s. You can tailor the spiciness to your personal taste. Mix in the crushed garlic and teriyaki sauce. Pour on cooked wings. I like to put them in a big bowl, cover it tightly with foil and shake to coat. Serve with carrots, celery, blue cheese and ranch. Enjoy with your favorite sports fans!
