Does anyone else remember watching their grandparents (and probably now your parents) hunker over and complain of back pain, leg pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, take their 18 daily serving of pills, require mid-day naps, wear ballet flats (for the grandmas), and wear 1 inch orthopedic dress shoes (for the grandpas)? Did anyone else besides me think to themselves, “Gosh, that will never be me and I will wear 5 inch stilettos until the day I die!”?

Well I never thought there would be a day where I’d get old, but then I had a kid and that theory was out the window. Now I have back pain, my joints ache, I require a nap however am not afforded the luxury of taking one, and rarely leave the house in a shoe higher than a 1/8 of an inch.

I’m not sure if my back pain is because I carried 30 lbs of extra weight while I was pregnant or if it’s because I required an epidural or if it’s simply older age, but I have terrible back pain post baby! Does anyone else have this problem??

Well Wesley and I have been sleeping in a queen size bed since day 1. We knew we were getting close to the day where we needed to upgrade not only the size of our bed, but also the quality of our mattress. That day happened sooner than later once I got pregnant with #2. My back pain was horrible! I only was in pain after waking up in the mornings and after an hour or two of being awake the pain would subside. I knew the problem had to be in the mattress rather than with my back as a whole. Not to mention, feeling my husband toss and turn was about to drive us to a DIVORCE!!!

I’ve heard equally good and bad things about the Tempur-pedic mattress, but have been fortunate to sleep on one a couple different times. All two times was dreamland amazing sleep. After watching commercials over the years, hearing positive reviews, and knowing we were in serious need for an upgrade for my growing belly, we headed to Relax the Back in Bee Cave at the Hill Country Galleria and tested out mattress’.

Ultimately, we chose the Tempur-pedic Cloud mattress and within a week we were sleeping on our new mattress.

Night 1: It was kind of a weird sleep night. I never felt my husband move, which is unusual so I almost felt like I woke up more often to check and see if he was still alive.

Night 2: A better night’s sleep, but I decided that the Tempur-pedic pillow purchase was a bad idea… I’m not a firm pillow kind of gal.

Night 3: Terrific!!! I woke up with zero back pain the next morning, felt refreshed, and realized that when I closed my eyes and fell asleep I never moved again until I woke up.

After 3 months of sleeping on the Tempur-pedic we are more than thrilled with our pricey purchase. So for anyone that feels like age is catching up with them, kids have changed their body, you’re tired of feeling your spouse toss and turn at night, and in general, you want a better night’s sleep, I HIGHLY recommend the Tempur-pedic. I can’t even begin to imagine the back pain I’d be feeling on our regular pillow top mattress today with this baby in me. I’d be miserable.

So for anyone who suffers from back pain, go check out the Tempur-pedic… I swear they didn’t pay me to say this 😉 Do you have an out of this world mattress? The Sleep Number? A different Tempur-pedic mattress? Or do you just love your pillow top? Clearly I love mine so much I’m screaming it from the computer keyboard!!!!

I’d just like to say that this image is BS!!! Wesley and I never hang out on our mattress without sheets spooning, holding hands, and gazing in each other’s eyes so don’t get your hopes up from the false advertisement photos.

  1. had a similar experience w/ my pregnancy… I DEMANDED a new mattress (and got one) and we’ve never slept better. King size pillow top is the way to go!! We got ours at Austin’s Couch Potatoes for a generic brand but it’s still AMAZING! And way to call out the marketing photo BS. hahaha.
